Summary During blood testing, microfilariae were detected in the German Shepherd. The analysis of morphological and biochemical (total bilirubin, urea, ALaT and ASaT) blood parameters did not reveal deviations from physiological standards for this type of animal. Immunochromatographic test showed a positive result for cardiac dirophylariosis. During the ECG, there were no characteristic changes in the cardiac form of dirofilariasis. A helminthological autopsy revealed invasion by the nematodes D.immitis and D.repens.
