Summary Genomic research is a method of obtaining hereditary information that is in the genome of an animal. Using various methods and ways of conducting genomic research, it is possible to determine what a particular gene in the body is responsible for. The most widespread use in the selection of dairy cattle is the use of DNA markers, thanks to which it is possible to increase the efficiency of selection and breeding work on economic and productive characteristics for specialized production of a certain type of product using genomic selection. Thanks to genomic research, DNA markers such as CSN3, PRL, BLG were discovered, affecting the productivity traits of dairy cattle, and their economically useful characteristics were determined.
Keywords: Genomic studies, genomic scanning, genetic mapping, selection, cattle breeding, cattle, Holstein breed, Black-and-White breed.
