The influence of soil surface temperature оn the rate of organic fertilizer decomposition in spring

Abstract The article discusses the role of soil surface temperature as a key agrometeorological factor determining the rate of microbial transformation of organic fertilizers (manure, green manure) in spring. It is shown that early warming of the topsoil to biologically active values (+5…+10 °C) accelerates the start of mineralization and increases the availability of nutrients to plants. During prolonged cooling of the soil, the decomposition of organic matter slows down, which shifts the timing of fertilizer action. The relationship between agrometeorological conditions and agrochemical efficiency of organic fertilizers is analyzed. Practical approaches for regulating the temperature regime of the soil surface are recommended.
