The role of dew and liquid precipitation in the dissolution of granular fertilizers on the soil surface

Abstract The article discusses agrometeorological and agrochemical aspects of the dissolution of granular mineral fertilizers under the action of dew and liquid atmospheric precipitation. It is shown that dew, despite its small moisture volume, plays a significant role in the initial stage of hydration and ion exchange in fertilizer granules, especially under arid conditions. Liquid precipitation (rain, drizzle) provides mass transfer of nutrients (NPK) into the root layer. The kinetic patterns of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium leaching depending on the intensity of precipitation and duration of wetting are described. The necessity of taking condensation moisture into account when predicting fertilizer efficiency is emphasized.
