Annotation. In landscape design, in providing the necessary decorative effect, the most important role is played by the methods of plant care, which should be carried out throughout the growing season. Depending on the characteristics of the climate, terrain, and objects, different methods of care are used. The usual set of techniques includes watering and spraying, weeding, loosening and hoeing, mulching, pruning, garter, removing faded flowers and inflorescences, fertilizing plants, etc. Care is carried out in accordance with the agrotechnical recommendations developed for crops, but there are also general requirements based on knowledge of the biology and physiology of herbaceous plants. To accumulate and preserve moisture in the soil, improve the temperature regime, reduce clogging after planting and during the growing season, mulching is used, especially on sod-podzolic and gray forest soils. As a mulching material, loose substrates of compost, lowland peat, humus, sawdust are used, which can then be a source of fertilizers. Light mulch helps to reduce the temperature of the soil, dark mulch helps to warm it up.
