Features of seed production and breeding of cucumber Cucumis Sativus

Summary Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) fruits are in demand year-round due to their flavor and medicinal and preventative properties, making their cultivation a viable option for businesses throughout Russia. This article discusses the basic rules for selecting source material for further crossbreeding, its evaluation criteria, the labeling of cucumber fruits selected for seed production, seed release and packaging, and some points to consider during breeding trials. The process of controlled pollination of cucumber flowers and breeding (measurement and yield recording) of the resulting populations is described.
